Apple CEO Tim Cook spent a good chunk of the highly anticipated Apple Live event talking about something unusual for the tech giant: running.

From the looks of it, the Apple Watch might be a dream come true for runners. Model, mother, runner and maternal health advocate Christy Turlington Burns even made an appearance during the launch.

Turlington Burns, the founder of Every Mother Counts, has been using the watch. She even ran a half marathon with it. Her verdict? It rocks.

“I rely on it quite heavily actually,” she said in a guest appearance onstage with Tim Cook. “In the short time I’ve been using it, I can already see how this is going to become an important part of my life.”

Let’s get this out of the way: Apple Watch preorders started on April 10 and go on sale on April 24. Prices range from $349 to over $10,000.

The Activity app provides a graphic of your daily activity. It has three rings to display data. The Move ring shows how many calories you’ve burned, the Exercise ring shows how many minutes of brisk activity you’ve done and the Stand ring shows how often you’ve stood up to take a break from sitting, the Apple website states.

Apple Watch will measure “all the ways you move, such as walking the dog, taking the stairs, or lifting your kids. Apple Watch even keeps track of when you stand up. Because it all counts. And it all adds up,” Apple says on its website.

Next up, the Workout app. It comes built into Apple Watch and shows real-time stats including time, distance, calories, pace, and speed for running, walking and cycling. “It lets you set goals for each session, encourages you to meet or beat your last or best workout, and provides updates along the way. You get a detailed summary of what you’ve achieved, and your workout counts toward your Activity app measurements for the day,” the Apple website states.

Apple unveiled Sport collection cases, made from lightweight anodized aluminum in silver and space gray. “The display is protected by strengthened Ion-X glass. And the matching fluoroelastomer band comes in five different colors,” according to the Apple website.

“Because it’s made from a custom high-performance fluoroelastomer, the Sport Band is durable and strong, yet surprisingly soft. The smooth, dense material drapes elegantly across your wrist and feels comfortable next to your skin. An innovative pin-and-tuck closure ensures a clean fit. Available in white, blue, green, pink, and black,” the website states.
